Exercise At Home Or Gym

Making the decision of where you will go to exercise
is a very important step in reaching your goals of
fitness. A lot of factors will go into this
decision, and each one should be evaluated well
before you start exercising. Once you have made
a decision on where you will go to exercise, you
can move on to deciding how you plan to work out.

As you probably know, exercising at home has many
advantages. The finance department is one of the
best advantages. With the gas prices being what
they are today, it is quite obvious that you'll
save money on fuel as well as wear and tear on
your vehicle by choosing to exercise at home.

Memberships to a gym can often be quite expensive
and may include other things that you don't need
such as child care or swimming pools. You also
won't need to be concerned about the latest
trends of exercise gear as you most likely will
be exercising by yourself at home.

Keep in mind that working out at home does
require a bit of financial obligation. Even
though you may plan to run, it is very important
that you have high quality running shoes. This
statment applies to any type of equipment that
you may purchase to use at home. If you go
out and buy cheap equipment, you'll probably
end up getting hurt or getting frustrated because
you aren't making any progress.

Along with the financial gains, exercising at
home may also help those who don't like to work
out in public. If you are worried about how you
look in gym clothes, it is very comforting to
know that the only person who has to be with you
when you exercise at home is you. Also, when
you exercise at home, you don't need to worry
about time at all.

Those of you who are motivated by being with
people you know or come to know while working
out away from home, a gym may be a better idea
than working out at home. At the gym, you'll
also more of a selection of equipment as well,
far more than you'll have at home.

If you need other services than just weights and
equipment, the gym may have just what you need.
If you plan to swim a triathlon, you'll find the
swimming pool at the gym to be just what you need
to prepare yourself. Swimming is also a great
exercise for your body and cardio, as it will work
muscles in your body that you probably didn't
even know you had.

Gyms will also offer you classes that you may find
very motivating. If you attend class on a regular
basis, you may be motivated enough to continue
so you don't have to defend yourself when asked
where you've been or what you have been doing.
You can also meet new people in class, or just
help others along if you choose.

All in all, making the choice of exercising at
home or at the gym is a choice you should make
based on your goals and personal preference. The
most important decision you'll need to make is
to determine what type of environment you want
to be in and how you want to accomplish the
fitness goals in your life.

Once you have given it some thought and weighed
out the pros and cons, you'll have no problem
making the choice. Always keep in mind that
once you've made your choice, you can always switch
if you aren't happy with the choice you made.

Exercise Back Pain Away

According to past research and studies, nearly 80%
of all Americans will experience some type of back
pain in their lives. The American Academy of
Orthopedic Surgeons believes this as well, as they
say 80% of us out there will encounter some type of
problem with our back before we die.

Traditionally, the treatment for lower back pain is
increasing core strength to increase flexibility on
muscles that are tight, which will provide better
stabilization of the spine and exercises to correct
the imbalances of the muscles. The muscles that
surround the spine will provide stability and support
of the spinal column.

Every muscle between the hips and shoulders are
included as well, as these muscles are referred to
as the core muscles. Back pain can be a result of
muscle imbalances caused by any of these core
muscles. If the back of your thighs are weaker than
the front of your thighs, there will be an uneven
pull on the front of your spinal column.

There are some effective ways that you can integrate
core strength training exercises into all of the
exercises you perform, rather than doing just the
traditional crunches and sit-ups. One such way
is by breathing effectively. Deep breathing will
utilize your diaphragm muscles which will help
support the spinal column and lengthen the spine,
which is great for your lower back and supporting
you when you walk or run.

The tummy tuck and bridge lift can also help you
to reduce back pain and strengthen the core
muscles as well. The tummy tuck exercise is a
simple pelvic tilt that draws the abdominal muscles
away from the floor. Do perform a tummy tuck,
simply lie face down on the floor and squeeze
your glutes to strengthen your spine.

Instead of pressing into your thighs, you should
instead reach your tailbone down towards your
heels. Perform 15 reps of each exercise and
alternate them until you have completed a couple
of sets.

For the bridge, place your feet on a bench or
on the floor and scoop your pelvis upward, as your
rib cage should stay low to reduce any irritation
to your spinal muscles. The bridge will help to
relieve stress on your back and focus the muscle
contractions into the glutes and the hamstrings.

Other exercises for lower back pain are the lumbar
side stretch, hip flexor stretch, and calf
stretches, as all three can help to alleviate
pull on your spinal column.

Hip flexor stretch
When doing a hip flexor stretch, bring one foot
forward in a bent knee, 90 degree angle, while your
other leg is on the floor behind you with your
foot pointed upwards toward the ceiling. The
hip flexor stretch will help to open up the
muscles of your back on the side of the spine near
your hips. You can also squeeze your glutes as
well to deepen the stretch with each breath you
exhale. You should begin to feel a stretch in your
back leg, in the thigh front and the hamstrings
on your front leg.

Lumbar side stretch
This stretch will bring your legs wide with your
knees bent while you sit or stand. Simply bring
one hand down towards your foot on the inside of
the thighs and your other hand behind your head.

The last stretch will open up your Achilles tendon,
which is the most distant pull on the spine. For
this, place an object under your foot and lean the
weight of your body forwards. Maintain a fluid
breath while you hold stretches for 30 seconds or
so. After a while, you should begin to feel a
stretch behind your knee and shin.

10 Massage Tips: How To Have The Best Massage Experience

A resort massage can be a great highlight to an already terrific vacation. A far cry from the chaotic reality of the metropolis, the calming ambience of a vacation resort can do wonders for your stressed-out mental and physical state. And an excellent way to maximize a vacation trip is to top it off with a relaxing and comforting massage.

It is true that a good massage session largely depends on the skills and expertise of a massage therapist. However, it is significant to know that the massage client also plays a role in making the massage a truly blissful experience.

To get the most out of your massage session, here are some massage tips that you can follow:

- Drink plenty of water before and after your massage session. This will enhance the benefits of a massage therapy.

- Don't eat for at least an hour before and after a massage session. If you must, opt for light crackers or snacks instead of a full heavy meal.

- Don't be late for your massage appointment. You need time to cool down and relax before your session. Arrive minutes early to give yourself time to enjoy the sauna or steam bath that the resort's massage center may have.

- If you're not comfortable about doing the massage in nude, be sure to speak up. It's important that you feel comfortable during the session. Don't be shy to talk to the therapist about it.

- Don't hesitate to talk to the therapist about other issues you might have like what amount of pressure or speed of movement you're comfortable in. Discuss your preferences regarding room temperature, type of music or lighting to ensure that you get the best massage experience.

- It's okay to have a few chit-chats with the therapist if that is what you like. But don't feel obliged to open a conversation when you'd rather sleep or indulge in the massage silently.

- Loosen up during the massage. Tightened-up muscles are more difficult to relieve.

- Relax. Don't think about the load of laundry waiting for you at home or the deadline that your monstrous boss has been bugging you about all week. The key to having an enjoyable massage is to let your mind rest. Imagine yourself in a tranquil place while enjoying the sensual pleasure of touch on your skin.

- Do not get off the massage table right away if you feel light headed or a little dizzy after the session. Allow for some quiet time to cool down and rest.

- Give the massage therapist a 15% tip if you're please with the service.

It's not a surprise that many people adore getting a massage. Not only is it an efficient way to rest and relax, it is also highly beneficial. And so that you are able to get the best massage experience even when you're in a vacation is to find a skilful massage therapist and to follow these simple but useful massage tips.

Then tap your torso down the front of your chest, continuing down to the front of your thighs. Repeat the tapping on the inside, outside, and back of your legs to cover the entire lower body. Finally, tap along your neck and behind your back to cover the remaining areas. This practice can be repeated several times, until your feel your body warm up from the increased blood flow. Abdominal self-massage is best used after meals to improve digestion or by women during their menstrual cycle. To perform abdominal massage, place one hand over the other as they lay above your naval. You need to breathe deeply and at the same time move your hands in a clock-wise direction around your belly. The clock-wise direction is synchronous with the digestive pathway of your colon. Repeat this motion for several minutes focusing your mind on your hands and breathe to warm your abdomen and improve circulation.

Reflexology is a system of treatment where specific points on the hands and feet are used to improve the health and functioning of the entire body. You can benefit from this practice even without a through understanding of reflexology charts. Use some basic massage oil or hand lotion to gently rub all of your fingers and toes. Continue to rub your palms and the soles of your feet, including the back of your hand and tops of your feet. Pay attention to any tender spots you find so that you can focus more on these areas. You will soon discover which places feel the best and which ones need more attention. By adopting a massage session each day, the tension that is accumulated in these areas through the day can be relieved.

An overall ear massage can greatly benefit our health. With the use of your thumb and index finger you need to rub the outer edge of the ear, which is also called the helix. Follow the helix down the ear until you reach your earlobe. Pull gently on your earlobe several times. Move above your ear lobe and begin to massage each of the remaining areas of your ear. The tragus, which is located just above your earlobe, is very helpful to activate the mind and relieve headaches.

In order to ensure full benefit of self massage, it is important to understand and practice the movement of the hands by familiarising yourself with the different therapies that massage offers and adopt them into your own self massage regime.

Therefore, a consumer must be shrewd and separate the real clinics from the fakes. If you are looking into massage therapy, you may find the three tips below to be helpful in making your decision.

1. Go for the Tried and Tested

The first clinics to consider should be those that others have tried and who have received positive reviews. You may find that these are a little expensive; but you will be getting a safe and effective massage. Massage that is done correctly will alleviate symptoms and greatly aid in relaxation. An improperly performed massage will cause many health problems and may cause skin bruising, bone injuries, blood clots, blood pressure problems, and even sprains or tissue damage.

Simply ask for referrals from friends and family of yours and of who you know that use massage therapy. People who receive massage therapy on a weekly basis will definitely be able to provide you with some recommendations.

2. Join Internet Forums

Your greatest resource for nearly anything is the internet. You can easily find advice and opinions from forums and review pages about massage therapy clinics. You should be able to decipher from all the commentary, which clinics really give good service. Feel free to join in on these forums and ask questions.

You might also do a quick search and find blogs and websites about the topic. Often these may provide you with good recommendations for massage therapy clinics. If you need to travel or find a clinic away from your community, this would be a great way to check out businesses where you intend to be staying.

3. Try It Out

If you are truly adventurous and have the funds to spare, you could sample services yourself. You may come across a few not-so-great clinics before you find the really good ones. Even if you receive terrible service from one location, at least you have tried the services out and know what to expect from them. Don't be afraid to continue your quest with other clinics until you find the one that is right for you.

Of course you should expect to research a little about the clinics you try before hand. This way you will avoid the fake ones and only give your business to the real ones. Be discriminate about the services of clinics and private practitioners in your area before trying them out. Be sure to check the place out, ask about their different techniques, and even see of you can have a demonstration. You may decide to research the different oils and products they use on their clients. The more you learn about the massage therapy clinic the better assured you will at get the best out of it.
